That framing matters because it changes what you compare. Two quotes with identical panel wattage can differ enormously in mounting hardware, inverter capability and warranty support and those are the parts that decide whether you’re happy in year eight.

The thing most quotes won’t tell you: grid-tie shuts down in an outage

A standard grid-tied inverter is required to disconnect when the grid drops. It’s called anti-islanding, and it exists to stop your system energising the lines while JPS crews are working on them. The safety logic is sound. The consequence for you is blunt: no grid, no solar, even at midday.

Ask any installer directly “what happens to this system when JPS goes down?” and see how quickly they answer. It’s a fair test of who you’re dealing with.

Why this matters more here than in most markets
